Master Built project

I’ve been building Baces by converting existing cello bodies into bace cellos. That way, I can offer The Bace at a price range comparable to professional, but not high-end priced, bass guitars.
In the past year though, I’ve been working on crafting in the traditional luthier way: hand-shaping with chisels and planes, using hand selected well-aged woods and traditional hot glues. This results in a gorgeous flamed bowable Bace that takes the acoustic properties to a whole different level. For those discerning musicians who don’t compare The Bace to their bass guitars, but instead to the standards of handcrafted members of the violin family, this is as far as one can take the concept of building a cello sized acoustic bass.
These photos represent the process, and the instrument – still unfinished, in bare wood.
